Our dojo

Traditional Shotokan karate in Lachine

Karate Do Lachine is a traditional Shotokan dojo that has been serving the Lachine community for two decades, offering classes for children and adults at two locations. We practice karate in the traditional way: with patience, sincerity, and respect. We pass on our knowledge to students who wish to learn karate or deepen their practice, whether on the path of budo or in competition.

Outdoor group training

Our philosophy

Karate-do begins and ends with courtesy. Our dojo follows the Shotokan tradition of Gichin Funakoshi, who taught that the ultimate aim of karate lies not in victory or defeat, but in the perfection of character. Through the karate traditional curriculum, students walk a lifelong path that trains the body, sharpens the mind and sets the heart free.

Children training in pairs

Karate for children

Children thrive in a structured, active and supporting environment. Our children's classes build focus, discipline, self-confidence and respect through age-appropriate traditional training. Student progress is measured against oneself, never against others. Every child advances at their own pace, in a safe and supportive dojo.

Young competitor in stance

Tradition and competition

In our dojo, the traditional martial way allows one to acquire effective self-defense skills and resilience, which is developed patiently over the years. This same foundation makes our competitors strong. Our students who want to perform in kata and kumite tournaments aim to uphold their dojo name.

Affiliations

Part of the official karate structure

Our dojo is affiliated with official karate federations at the provincial, national, and international levels. Instructors and athletes train, test and participate in competitions within an official and recognized framework at all levels.

Welcome to new students

New students are welcome year-round at both locations. Reach out to visit us at the dojo!
